To Sea or not to SeaIrvine Beach, February 2018

Irvine is just one beach in a series of similar patterns arising across the country, and the world. In the early 2000s, it failed to meet environmental quality tests and was deemed unsafe for human contact. It has since been upgraded to the label of ‘sufficient’.

Ocean health is continuing to decline as the earth’s human population increases the knock-on effect of industry and waste progressively impacts upon the sea.

A viewing box was staked into the shoreline of Irvine beach.

Look through the eyeholes and a tiny alternative reality plays out.

An illusion of real-time and past axtions between human and rolling waves.
